Our Team

Brenda Amaral

After completing college and working in radio I just knew that I would never truly feel fulfilled in life if I didn’t pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a stylist. I officially began my career in 1998 and have never looked back! I have been fortunate enough to experience every aspect of this industry from front desk, stylist, educator, to now being a salon owner.

I’ve worked in this industry in several capacities before deciding it was time to build a team of dedicated professionals that are as committed to creating an amazing guest experience as I am. Gwen Mireille Salon and Spa opened its doors in 2012. I named the salon after my daughter who is now 21 years old and works in the spa here!

Confession – I am a complete hair nerd.  I have extensively studied the chemistry and make up of hair and became an American Board Certified Haircolorist in 2000, and also an Evaluator and Mentor for their program. When I am not in the salon or teaching a class, I am either with my family at the Cape, traveling, meditating, or trying to learn to speak a new language. I am also a sucker for a good Netflix or Food Network binge fest, or trying a new restaurant or recipe!

If you have been wanting natural, healthy, shiny looking hair that looks great from appointment to appointment then I am your girl. Click the new guests link and let's get you the hair of your dreams!

I am no longer accepting haircut-only clients. All cut services must be accompanied by color services.

Gloria Chace

Gloria is our Salon Coordinator, no longer behind the chair herself, but still feels lucky to be in the industry she loves. Her welcoming smile is the first thing you will see upon entering the salon. One of her greatest gifts is having that personal touch to really make you feel welcome and like you're part of the family. She is always staying on top of trends and continuing education to help better serve you.

Gloria books and confirms all appointments for each staff member so we are sure you will get to know her well. If you prefer booking online, Gloria will still be your go to person for any and everything else you may need.  She is also very knowledgeable about all the products we carry and services we offer. On a personal note, Gloria enjoys gardening, crafting, and spending time with her family (especially her granddaughter and her adorable pug Bella) She looks forward to meeting you and making your experience here with us, the best it could possibly be!

Scott LaPlante

I became a stylist because as a child I was completely obsessed with hair. From the Little Mermaid to My Little Pony. I would sit for hours braiding all my sisters' toys that had long hair and beg my mom and my grandmother to let me do anything I possibly could with their hair. It was just something I was born obsessed with. However it wasn’t something I felt safe to pursue until I came out at 20 years old.

Once that milestone was crossed I attended Paul Mitchell the School, where I fell in love with cutting and coloring hair before graduating in 2005. Although I love doing both, cutting is my specialty. Since then I have taken many classes but my favorite part of what I do is getting to know who someone is inside and getting to translate and reflect that beauty and uniqueness on the outside.

I love humor and you will usually hear me laughing and being silly in the salon. However I take what I do very seriously and feel like I provide a safe space to express any experience or emotion this journey of life brings upon us.

I became a reiki master in 2013 because I truly want to help people inside and out. But I’m also obsessed with all of the real housewives franchises and love to dish about anything and everything Bravo!

My goal working behind the chair is to be accepting and inclusive of everyone I meet and to truly just add a little polish and creativity to the gem you already are.

So let’s live, laugh, love and color those greys!

Denise Graziano

Denise Graziano, hair stylist

I have quite simply, always enjoyed doing hair.  I remember spending hours playing with my Hair Styling Barbie doll head when I was very  young up until last week. Just kidding, she’s long gone but i have traded her in for real people and an occasional mannequin doll head to stay true to my roots.

I was most likely inspired by my Grandmother who besides being a really cool lady was a Hairstylist.

I started my hair career in my twenties in Boston where I realized I was fascinated with listening to my guests stories about their relationships, their daily lives, their adventures, misadventures, dreams, and struggles. The things that make you “YOU”.

I believe continuing education in my field can be as much fun and exciting  as it is  important.  Traveling to places i’ve been to  often or places I’ve never been before to study styling, cutting, coloring or sometimes a bit of the science behind what we do continues to inspire me to do and be better.

I’m serious about my job, doing my best to help you look your best.  Achieving the result  that suits you and your lifestyle. I ask lots of questions, consultations are very important to me and I will be listening to what you’re saying, and when asked I will give my honest opinion. I would love to help you with styling tips and treatments for better hair.

But I also want to laugh a lot,  talk recipes, silly tv shows that we obsess over , books that light up your life, music because it makes the world go round and whatever is going on with your family because there is always going to be something.

Everything is an experience, let’s make this a great one.

Cassie Clauson

Like most hairstylists, I have had a love for doing hair as long as I can remember. Hair has always been a creative outlet for me but it was in 2011 when I completely immersed myself in the industry and decided to make it my career. I graduated from the Toni & Guy Academy in RI and went on to continue my education and refine my knowledge at a Toni & Guy Salon in Hoboken, NJ.

My foundations of education and creative thinking blossomed right from the start. I am extremely proud of my educator background and love to share my craft with other stylists. I am thrilled to be the New Talent Educator here at GMSS. This allows me to pour my passion back into the industry and help my peers be the best they can be and love this career as much as I do!

Behind the chair I create tailored hairstyles that best suit your beauty ideals and your lifestyle while giving you tips and tricks along the way so that you can recreate the look at home and wear your hair as your best accessory everyday! I have a very laid back and unassuming demeanor and strive to ensure that all people and hair types feel welcomed in my chair.

Outside of the salon I love spending time with my family, friends and my boyfriend and our two dogs. I enjoy trying new things and am always down for an adventure. Whether it’s a beautiful beach day, a hike in nature, a concert or traveling somewhere new- I’m here for all of it!

Make an appointment with me and I would be happy to help you elevate your hair!

Hannah Galbato

Hannah Galbato, hair stylist

I have always had a drive and desire to be in the hair industry since I was a little kid. To have the opportunity to help others express themselves through their hair and to get to infuse my own personal creativity was a dream . I started working in a hair salon while I was still in High School which just furthered my drive to be a part of this amazing industry. Once I graduated from West Bridgewater HS in 2018, I continued my education at Toni & Guy and the real journey began. It was amazing to have the opportunity to learn from people before I even started hair school but then to get to build a solid foundation with Toni & Guy has absolutely helped make me the stylist I am today.

After starting at Gwen Mireille, I have continued taking classes to further my drive and creativity. To me the reward is helping people look and feel as amazing as they should. One of the best aspects of the job is the opportunity to get to know so many people from different walks of life. Some of my favorite things to do with hair are, balayage, braiding, and finish work (I love a good beach wave).

On a side note, when I am not in the salon doing what I love, fixer upper marathons and an awesome Netflix series usually keep me busy. I also enjoy spending time with my amazing friends and family whether it be skiing, camping, or of course the beach. I can't wait to get my hands on your hair and help you shine as much as your hair does!

Tess Brunelle

Since the age of 13 I’ve always sported unique haircuts with bright hair colors paired with any makeup I could get my hands on. Because of this, my love of hair and makeup has only grown over the years. I soon discovered that most stylists were hesitant towards my want for shorter, colorful hair and I, like most middle schoolers, started coloring my hair myself. By the eighth grade I was introduced to the option of Bristol Plymouth and instantly jumped at the opportunity to study cosmetology. I’ve been doing makeup for as long as I could hold a brush and recently placed first in the Nation for Esthetics at SkillsUSA.

I started at Gwen Mireille as an assistant my senior year and quickly began soaking up any and all knowledge I could whilst working towards getting behind the chair. I am dedicated to my craft and am continually pursuing new educational opportunities. I love this industry as it is ever changing and there is always something new to learn. My goal is to create a space for fearless self expression. Although I love working on highlights and natural coloring, I thrive off vivid colors and cuts that can range anywhere from full heads of neon to strips of pastel color.

Outside of work you can usually find me walking around a Target or at any concert I can get into. At home I’m often chipping away at some sort of diy project whilst wrangling foster kittens. I am a self proclaimed crazy cat lady and am always up for an adventure. Creativity tends to follow me in every aspect of life and I’d love to make your fearless hair dreams, no matter how “out of the box” they may seem, a reality.

My journey in the cosmetology field began far before schooling; spending any time I could shadowing my mom behind the chair, from as young of an age as I can remember. With such an early introduction to the industry, came a natural passion and knack for doing hair.. Once going on to school, I came to find yet another love in the industry in esthetics, but remained my focus on doing hair.

While in school, I assisted my mom here at GMSS, which I am forever grateful for. My longing for education led me to Newbury Street for a year. This experience was anything short of exceptional. It gave me a newfound perception of the hair world. My time in Boston can also be accredited to how I’m here today.

Once the pandemic hit, I had a bit of an identity crisis. I wasn’t sure where I belonged, whether it be in this industry or not. With all the time in the world to think whilst at home, I decided I wanted to pursue an online-college education, majoring in legal and social studies. As someone who was always so dead-set on doing hair for the rest of my life, it not only came as a shock to myself, but to those around me, yet I was determined to see it through.

As I entered my first spring semester in college at the beginning of 2021, I couldn’t shake the passion I still had, here in the industry. In my down time, I began researching potential esthetic certifications and event  hair that could be useful for the upcoming season.

This is when it all aligned for me. Despite not verbalizing the interest I still held, the timing of my mom offering me the spa position here couldn’t have come at a better time. After some long discussions, it was decided that I would be returning to GMSS, now practicing esthetic cosmetology and event hair services, while continuing out with my degree.

I then began to channel my inner-high schooler and remembered the spark that esthetic services initially brought me. And from there, the rest is history.

My utmost priority is your comfortability here. Whether it’s skin, brows, lashes, or event hair, your appointment is about YOU.

I strive to leave you looking and feeling good, while maintaining the integrity of your skin, brows, lashes, and hair. A trusting relationship amongst a service provider and their guest is a lasting one, and I look forward to what we create together.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending my time with family and friends, at the gym, or recycling through my favorite shows and movies. I also love to travel, attend concerts, and spend time down the Cape.
